Simulation
Optimisation and simulation go hand-in-hand. A simulation model of a process can allow to test its behaviour under different working conditions (or scenarios) at a small cost, quickly, and in a risk-free virtual environment. A simulation model can be used to identify bottlenecks in a process and thus select candidates for optimisation. A simulation model can also provide a safe testbench to evaluate the performance and the side-effects of new optimised management policies, before transferring them to the real world. |
